AI Data Use

Effective July 7, 2026. This notice explains what SoulBox sends to third-party AI providers, who receives it, how AI providers are selected, and how your data is protected.

Context

AI replies are generated from what you add to your Profile, the text you enter, and the memories a bot saves — the context an AI model needs to respond.

What This Covers

SoulBox uses AI to generate the responses, voices, images, and other content you request. This notice explains what data is sent to AI providers, who receives it, and how it is protected, so you can decide whether to use these features. It supplements, and does not replace, our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

What We Send and Why

AI generation only works when the model receives enough context to respond. To create a response, SoulBox combines and sends to the AI provider:

- The information you willingly add to your **Profile**, in your account settings and during onboarding - The **text you enter** into the conversation — your prompt and messages - Any **memories** the bot has saved from your previous conversations with it

Together these form the context the AI provider needs to generate a relevant reply. This is essential to how large language models and AI generation function — without this context, the AI cannot produce a meaningful response.

If you use media features, the images you upload or ask SoulBox to generate, and any voice recordings or dictation you submit, are also sent so those specific features can work.

What We Do Not Send

We do not send your billing information to AI providers. Your billing name, address, and payment details are handled entirely by our payment processor, Stripe, and are never shared with AI providers. Only the profile information you consensually and willingly enter is included as context — you control what you add.

Who Receives It

The context above is sent to SoulBox servers and to trusted third-party AI providers who process it solely to produce the output you asked for. The providers we currently use include:

Additional providers may be added over time, and this agreement will be revised to reflect them. The provider used for any given request depends on the feature, the model selected, the bot's configuration, and your plan and age-verification status. The current list is also maintained in our Privacy Policy.

AI Provider Selection

You can set your preferred AI provider in **Profile → Preferences → AI Providers**. Your preferred provider is used as the default when you create new bots.

When you interact with a public bot, or a bot shared with you by another user, the AI provider configured on that bot is the provider used to synthesize your request. If your plan or age-verification status does not support that provider, SoulBox will instead use an approved fallback provider — such as OpenAI or Mistral AI — to fulfill your request. Provider availability may therefore vary based on your plan, your age-verification status, the bot's configuration, and provider availability at the time of your request. Regardless of which provider is used, the same protections described in this notice and our Privacy Policy apply.

Image Analysis and Uploaded Images

When you upload an image for image analysis, the image is sent to a third-party AI provider to be analyzed. Before the image leaves SoulBox, we strip embedded metadata — including EXIF data such as GPS coordinates and location, device and camera identifiers, timestamps, and other potentially sensitive information — so that only the raw image pixels required for the analysis are transmitted to the provider.

We provide the AI provider only the visual content reasonably necessary to fulfill your request. We do not use uploaded images to identify you, and we require providers, under their data-processing agreements, to process the image solely to generate the requested output, to protect it with safeguards consistent with our Privacy Policy, not to sell it, and not to retain it beyond what is necessary to complete the request or as required by applicable law. You are solely responsible for ensuring you hold the rights and any necessary permissions for images you upload, and you should not upload images depicting other individuals without their consent or containing information you are unwilling to have processed for the requested feature.

AI Voice Cloning and Synthesis

When you record or upload a voice sample to create a cloned or custom voice, that audio is shared with one or more third-party providers in order to analyze and accurately synthesize the voice. Providing your voice is entirely optional.

If you are not comfortable sharing your voice, you do not have to. SoulBox offers a library of over 5,000 ready-made voices to choose from, and you can also generate a new AI voice you like instead. You are never required to upload your own voice. SoulBox additionally offers in-app voice dictation — which converts your speech to text through your device or operating system — specifically so you can interact by voice without sharing your voice recordings with AI providers; this was the original design intent.

If you have any concern about your voice being processed by third-party providers, please do not upload or record it, and use the provided voices or on-device dictation instead. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights and any necessary consent for any voice you upload.

AI Live Transcription and Live Calls (Speech-to-Text)

When you use real-time features such as **Live Call** or **Cloud Transcription**, your voice audio is streamed live to the third-party provider fulfilling the request so it can be converted to text as you speak. This live transmission is imperative to how these features operate. SoulBox does not record or store your voice audio for these features; we retain only the resulting text transcription as needed for app functionality, such as displaying the conversation and generating a response.

Providers used for live transcription may include Mistral AI and others, and the provider used may vary based on availability, your plan, and your settings. If you do not want your voice analyzed by third-party providers, please do not use these live voice features — in-app dictation and text entry remain available as alternatives.

How It Is Used and Protected

We require these providers, under their data-processing agreements, to protect your data with safeguards consistent with our Privacy Policy, to use it only to process your request, and not to sell it. SoulBox does not sell your personal data.

SoulBox may log operational details such as provider name, model, status, latency, token counts, file identifiers, and error messages to operate billing, reliability, quotas, and abuse prevention. We avoid logging secrets and unnecessary sensitive content.

Your Choices

Using AI features is your choice. You control what you put in your Profile, what you type, what you upload, what voice you use, and which models or providers you select when options are available.
