What is SoulBox?

SoulBox is an AI companion platform. You create bots with custom personalities, assign them unique cloned voices, and chat with them from the web, iOS, Android, or SoulBox hardware devices.

How do I create my first bot?

Sign up on SoulBox Earth and use the 6-step bot creation wizard. You'll set a name, personality, system prompt, avatar, and voice before saving.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. SoulBox offers a free tier so you can create bots, chat, and explore the platform before upgrading.

Can I use SoulBox on my phone?

Yes. SoulBox has native iOS and Android apps plus a full web app at earth.soulbox.io.

Bots

Create AI personalities with custom system prompts, avatars, and voice settings.

How do I create a bot?

Go to My Bots in the console and use the bot creation wizard. You set a name, gender, age, location, backstory, system prompt, and avatar in 6 steps.

Can I make my bot public?

Yes. Set visibility to Public in the bot settings and your bot will appear in the public directory so others can discover and interact with it.

What is a system prompt?

The system prompt is the personality instruction sent to the AI model behind the bot. It defines how the bot speaks, what it knows, and how it behaves.

Does SoulBox support NSFW content?

Adult content is opt-in and age-gated at both the account and bot level. NSFW is off by default. Guardrails are enforced at the LLM level, not just at the frontend.

Can I share a bot with a friend?

Yes. Public bots can be shared via link. Private bots are only visible to you.

Voices

Create custom voice profiles for text-to-speech using AI generation, uploads, or recordings.

How do I create a voice?

Go to Voices in the console. You can upload an audio file, record directly in the browser, or generate a voice with AI by describing the tone, age, accent, and gender you want.

What audio formats are supported?

WAV, MP3, and OGG are all accepted for voice uploads. Longer samples (15–60 seconds of clean speech) produce better results.

What is voice cleanup?

Voice cleanup runs your uploaded audio through noise isolation to remove background noise. You can compare the original vs cleaned version before saving.

Can I use any voice for TTS?

Yes. Once you have a voice saved in your library, you can assign it to any of your bots for real-time text-to-speech.

How does AI voice generation work?

Describe a voice (e.g. "warm female voice, mid-30s, slight British accent") and SoulBox generates it using AI. You can tune pitch, speed, and timbre sliders before saving.

Conversations & Chat

Chat with bots in real time, start group conversations, and listen to voice responses.

How do I start a conversation?

Open any bot from My Bots or the bot directory and click Chat. A new conversation opens instantly.

What is a group conversation?

A group conversation puts multiple bots (and optionally other users) into the same chat thread. Each bot responds in its own voice and personality.

Can I hear the bot's voice?

Yes. If a bot has a voice assigned, responses are synthesized into speech in real-time using SoulBox's TTS pipeline. You see the words appear and hear the audio simultaneously.

Does the bot remember previous conversations?

Yes. SoulBox extracts and stores facts from conversations as persistent bot memories. These are injected into future sessions so the bot remembers you.

Sounds

Upload and manage ambient sounds, music, or audio effects for conversations.

What are sounds used for?

Sounds are background audio clips (music, ambience, effects) that can play during conversations or on SoulBox hardware devices.

What formats are supported for sounds?

MP3, WAV, and OGG files are all supported. Sounds are stored in your library and can be assigned to conversations or devices.

Devices

Manage SoulBox hardware. Claim devices, link bots, and configure settings.

What hardware does SoulBox support?

SoulBox supports ESP32-S3 based devices (SoulBox Lite) with I2S audio output. See the Devices page for compatible hardware.

How do I claim a device?

Go to Devices in the console and enter the device ID printed on your hardware. Once claimed, you can link a bot and configure Wi-Fi and audio settings.

Can I link multiple bots to one device?

A device runs one active bot at a time, but you can switch which bot is linked from the console.

Account

Manage your profile, email, password, and account settings.

How do I change my password?

Go to Account Settings → Security. Enter your current password and then your new password.

Can I change my username or display name?

Yes. Go to Account Settings → Profile and update your display name.

How do I delete my account?

Contact support at contact@soulbox.io to request account deletion. Your data will be removed within 30 days.

Is my data private?

Your private bots and conversations are only visible to you. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data handling.

Billing & Plans

Understand subscription tiers, usage limits, and how to manage your plan.

What plans are available?

SoulBox offers Free, Pro, and Enterprise tiers. Free gives you core bot creation and chat. Pro unlocks higher message limits, voice generation, and group conversations. See the pricing page for current details.

How do I upgrade my plan?

Go to Billing in the console and select a plan. Payment is handled securely via Stripe.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel your subscription anytime from Billing settings. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period.

What happens if I hit my usage limit?

You'll see a usage warning and some features will be rate-limited until the limit resets or you upgrade. You won't be charged extra automatically.

Explore public bots, connect with other creators, and share your work.

How do I find other users' bots?

Browse the Bot Directory at soulbox.io/bots to find public AI companions created by the community.

Can I follow a bot?

Yes. Follow any public bot to track its activity and get updates in your feed.

How do I report inappropriate content?

Use the report button on any bot or conversation, or email support@soulbox.io directly.

Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to fix them.

My bot isn't responding. What do I do?

Check your internet connection first. If the issue persists, try refreshing the page. If the bot shows an error, the AI provider may be temporarily unavailable — retry in a moment.

Voice isn't playing. What do I do?

Make sure your device volume is up and not muted. On iOS/Android, check that the app has microphone permissions. Try toggling voice off and back on in the conversation.

I can't log in. What do I do?

Try resetting your password via the login page. If you signed up with Google or Apple, use those buttons instead of email/password.

How do I contact support?
